Day at a Costa Rican Animal Rescue Farm

Costa Rica is one of the best places to experience the tropics with minimal environmental impact. Conservation is a top priority as the country seeks to protect its lush jungles so that its astounding variety of wildlife is preserved. Our volunteers have the opportunity to experience Costa Rica’s beautiful diversity firsthand as well as perform service projects that continue to ensure these animals have a sanctuary.

"WHAT A COUPLE OF DAYS WE'VE HAD! Yesterday seemed like three days, in a good way. We drove two hours to visit an animal rescue farm."

"There were monkeys, raccoons, hogs, owls, a toucan, and some other animals...."

"We were able to touch most of the animals and of course the kids loved touching the spider monkeys. "

"The raccoons were a big hit surprisingly, We learned that they see by touching and feeling so when we would crouch down next to the cage, the raccoons would pat you down with their front paws."

“Back to School Bash” recap!

Thanks to all the cool kids that came to our first fundraising event! With Home Ec Amy, Coach Beth and Librarian Roni chaperoning the event, there were plenty of balloons to ensure that no one got dangerously close during the slow dances. Skaters, goths, jocks, dorks, exchange students, public and private schoolers alike attended to make this a great success. Even Debbie Gibson made a comeback!

Thank you Holli and Anna for donating your even to the cause! We look forward to see you all again at the soon to be announced next event. You are all 2 COOL 2 B 4GOTTEN!

Welcome to the Nyanga Children’s project blog!

This blog has been created to provide you with a continual update on our efforts to fundraise $80,000 in 8 months. Our 20 volunteers’ goal is to travel to South Africa beginning of November 2009 for a week in order to entirely restore and rebuild the Emasithandane’s orphanage in Nyanga, and create a new safe and comfortable home for 32 orphans.
